Frequently Asked Questions

What is your return policy?

 We will happily allow returns of non-custom items. Custom items include bed skirts with ribbon trim added, drapery with custom hem, drapery with ribbon or fabric trim added, anything monogrammed, rugs, freighted items, special order items and anything which indicates custom on the product description.

Returns should  be made by shipping or returning your items to Dorm Decor within 21 days of receipt of your items. After 21 days we will give store credit for any new, unused, and unwashed item(s).  Sale items are always FINAL SALE and not eligible for return or store credit.  All custom items and monogram items are not eligible for return or store credit.  Please call us 888-874-8778 if you have questions about a return.

Please click here to print a Return Authorization Form to include with your return. We ask that you download and fill out the form, email us a copy, and include a printed copy with your return. Please return your items in the original packaging and box. We do not offer refunds or store credits on items that are damaged in transit, so please package your item accordingly. We suggest when purchasing your return postage, that you also purchase insurance and to keep your postage receipt with your tracking information. Only items received in our warehouse will be credited for a refund or store credit. Dorm Decor does not offer price adjustments on items previously purchased.

Desk Hutch Questions

Can I pick up my hutch at the Dorm Decor showroom/warehouse in Birmingham?

We allow pickup of desk hutches at our Birmingham location.  

If you choose to pick up the desk hutch in Birmingham you are required to pay state and local taxes, but there will be no $100 delivery fee.  You need to ensure, choosing the pickup option, that your vehicle is large enough to accommodate the 40"W x 44"H x 14"D hutch box.

Is there a cutoff date for ordering hutches and having them delivered?

Yes, the cutoff date for each type of delivery will be posted on the item page, so PLEASE order early in the season!  We cannot guarantee that hutches will be available after the posted date.

 

If I am attending one of the schools where you install, when will my cubby or cubbies be installed?

Dorm Decor works with the schools to deliver, setup and install the hutches at UA and AU.  This date will precede your move-in.  When you arrive your desk hutch should be in your room and ready to go!

Does Dorm Decor rent hutches or buy back hutches at the end of the school year?

No, Dorm Decor does not have a rental or buyback service.

How can I be sure that my hutch will fit in my college dorm room?

Most colleges post dorm room layouts and measurements on their websites so that you can verify a fit.  There are some schools that have hutches already over the desks in which case one of our desk hutches would not be a good purchase.

Hutch measurements:

New White Desk hutch: 43"h x 36 " W x 12"D

Older style desk hutch is 39.25" W

If you cannot determine the fit, please call our office and we will try to help you ensure that your purchases will work and be effective. The customer is responsible for determining if purchased products will fit and can be delivered to their room of choice by verifying building access and room measurements.

 

General Questions

How do I place an order?

Our products can be ordered through our website, www.dorm-decor.com, by telephone at 888-874-8778 or at our showroom - 3012 4th Avenue S. in Birmingham.  Showroom hours, which can be found on the website, will vary depending on the season.

As a courtesy to our customers, Dorm Decor is happy to enter draft orders taken over the phone or at a showroom appointment.

We do our very best to enter all information accurately, however, it is the responsibility of the customer to review
the order and make sure it is correct. By placing the order you are confirming that it is correct. Please be sure
to check and verify monograms, fabrics etc.

 

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also have a PayPal link. Dorm Decor charges applicable sales taxes to all residents in Alabama. If you are ordering outside the state of Alabama, no sales tax will be charged.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Once an order has been placed, we can usually change or cancel your order within 24 hours. Please e-mail us at orders@dorm-decor.com or call us at 888-874-8778.

 

How do coupon codes work?

Dorm Decor runs various sales and offers coupon codes throughout the year.  Codes can be used at time of purchase only.  Our system does not allow us to enter coupon codes after a purchase has been made.  

 Do you offer Fabric Swatches?

Yes, 6 free swatches can be ordered on our website.  Please note that some of our products are not available in some fabrics.  

How do you wash our bed skirts?

For both of our metallic and linen bed skirts it is recommended that you dry clean the bed skirts.

For all of our printed bed skirts it is recommended that you clean them  using a sponge and mild detergent then air dry. Washing machines and dryers are too abrasive for printed fabric.Customers have successfully used these machines in the past with cold water, gentle cycle, and line dry; however, we will not accept warranty claims for machine washed fabrics.

For our White and Dani Ivory bed skirts washing in cold water and air drying is the recommended way to clean these.

Shipping Questions

Can I ship my order directly to my dorm room?

Dorm Decor cannot ship an order directly to a dorm room, but we can deliver orders to mailrooms at many colleges and universities. 

Please check with your school’s shipping policy and check the ship-to address and instructions carefully and if your school accepts packages, you can enter its delivery address in your order.

When will my order arrive?

Although we usually ship much quicker, please allow 14-21 days for your items to ship. We don’t anticipate delays, but in the rare case that an item is backordered, we will notify you immediately!
